Overview

NV5 Geospatial (NV5G) is actively recruiting a GIS Analys tto work in a remotely distributed team. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience applying geospatial technologies and analytic methodologies to natural resource problems. The analyst must have exceptional communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, and be able to work well in a remote team environment.

Work Environment:

    This position is a fully remote position within an engaged, virtual Division at NV5 Geospatial
  • Travel < 10% of the time

Responsibilities
  • Collects, processes, and analyzes spatial data
  • Develops cartographic map products, reports, and data inventories
  • Develops metadata in FGDC and ISO formats
  • Populates enterprise GIS databases with spatial and non-spatial data
  • Interacts with external clients in technical solution development and providing technical assistance
  • Writes technical documents
  • Uses technology (such as Model Builder or Python) to automate workflows
  • Prepares models, diagrams and technical documentation for GIS applications, GIS databases, metadata and operating procedures
  • Reviews and extracts spatial information from scientific study reports
  • Creates spatial representations from information extracted from scientific study reports
  • Interviews scientists to gather information from scientific studies
  • Prepares training material for end users including graphics and step-by-step instructions for maintaining GIS solutions
  • Assists in the development of user acceptance criteria and user acceptance tests for mapping applications
  • Follows quality control procedures to ensure a high degree of data consistency, integrity, and accuracy

  • Able to travel locally or nationally for occasional team meetings/conferences (<10% travel)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree Requirements: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major work in physical or natural science, geography, engineering, planning, computer science or a related field
  • Three years of experience using Esri ArcGIS software to manage and analyze data
  • Experience in technical writing
  • QA/QC experience
  • U.S. Citizenship required to comply with government contracts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Master's Degree in Marine or Environmental Sciences
  • Professional certification in Geographic Information Systems
  • 3 years or more applying GIS to natural resource management
  • Basic familiarity with python scripting
  • Experience building applications in ArcGIS Online
  • Familiarity with relational database management systems and enterprise environments
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies
  • Familiarity with web-based mapping applications
