The Strategic Financial Analyst will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial strategy of our revenue-sharing within the athletic department by developing and maintaining a comprehensive long-term financial model. This model will be crucial for the strategic allocation of revenue-sharing, effectively serving as the department’s capologist. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional financial modeling skills and have advanced knowledge and understanding of complex financial and accounting concepts. The candidate will oversee a multi-million dollar budget, which is expected to increase each year. They will also have a strong ability to incorporate a variety of parameters to ensure a holistic and strategic view. Developing the cap model and providing strategic insights to key department leaders will be essential aspects of this role. The nature of this work requires significant independence and the highest degree of confidentiality.

Essential Duties:
  • Develop and Maintain Cap Model: Design, build, and continuously refine a long-term financial model for the revenue-sharing to facilitate the strategic allocation of funds. Ensure the model accounts for a range of parameters including revenue streams, expenditures, and financial forecasts
  • Strategic Analysis and Recommendations: Analyze financial data and trends to provide actionable insights and recommendations to enhance revenue-sharing strategies. The ability to detect trends early, and using niche expertise to find ways to capitalize on these trends is also important. Ensure that recommendations align with departmental goals and overall organizational strategy.
  • Collaboration with Key Stakeholders: Serve as a strategic thought partner to the General Manager (GM) of Football, Deputy Athletics Directors for Football, Business Operations and Revenue, Media and Brand, and the Assistant Athletics Director for Revenue, Media and Brand, the business office, and both head and assistant coaches for various teams. Provide financial insights and support decision-making processes.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare detailed financial reports and presentations for senior management and other stakeholders that can be easily accessed and understood. Communicate complex financial concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in financial modeling and analysis. Recommend and implement improvements to financial processes as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the assistant athletics director for Name Image & Likeness

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (4 years) in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field is required
  • 2 to 4 years experience in financial analysis, financial modeling, investment banking, or a related field, preferably with an interest in working in the sports industry.
  • Proficiency in advanced financial modeling and analysis techniques.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide strategic recommendations.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity.
  • Strong collaboration skills with experience working closely with senior executives and department leaders.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expertise in financial software and data visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, financial modeling software)

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) is preferred but not required with comparable experience.
  • High level athletics industry understanding
