Job Title- DIRECTOR-PROFESSIONAL LEARNING
Position Status- Full Time
Classification Title- Administration-12 m
Work Location- Main Campus-3600 N. Garfield, Midland, TX
Job Summary- The Director of Professional Learning will lead the development and implementation of professional and organizational development initiatives for all faculty and staff at Midland College. The Director will work collaboratively with departments across the institution to offer tailored training and support that meets the specific needs of faculty and staff, fostering a culture of professional growth and enhancing the overall effectiveness of the organization. The Director is integral in connecting employees from different administrative divisions, planning and implementing college-wide initiatives and events, and onboarding new employees to the organization.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited university
- Experience as a trainer, instructional designer, or professional educator in any industry
- Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License, a good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College’s insurance policy

- Higher education leadership experience
- Supervisory experience
- Demonstrated ability to connect with and influence coworkers at all levels of an organization
- Demonstrated ability to develop and lead professional development programs
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate the development and implementation of processes and procedures that support department- or organization-wide projects or initiatives
- Proficiency with e-learning platforms, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and modern instructional design methodologies.
- College-level teaching experience in multiple modalities is a plus
Essential Functions
- Provide leadership over the Teaching & Learning Center (TLC) to offer professional development programs and opportunities to all Midland College employees
- Supervise TLC staff
- Lead the planning, organization, and delivery of synchronous and asynchronous training programs on relevant professional development topics
- Collaborate with key faculty, staff, and other stakeholders regarding the development and general operation of the TLC
- Recruit and manage faculty and staff partners to enhance professional development through peer-led programming
- Plan, coordinate, and implement college-wide In-Service Weeks before the start of each semester
- Support new faculty and staff through the ongoing maintenance of the New Employee Experience and TLC onboarding program
- Provide leadership over the training and support for the college-wide student learning management system (Canvas)
- Provide leadership over the identification and recommendation of emerging learning technologies and best practices
- Provide leadership over the training and support for the college-wide student learning management system (Canvas)
- Lead the development of high-quality, relevant content for the employee learning management system
- Provide consultation and leadership for college-wide events, such as employee convocation
- Oversee the completion of annual compliance training to meet federal, state, and accreditation requirements
- Support full and part-time employees at all Midland College campuses and teaching sites, including service area high schools
- Other duties as assigned

- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time

- The person in this position needs to occasionally move or drive to other locations on and off campus
- This position may require occasional travel for training, meetings, and events both in and out of town

- Frequently moves equipment or paperwork weighing up to 25 pounds

Pay Statement- Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
