Position Summary:

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is seeking a Director for its Career and College Promise (CCP) programs. This role is essential in planning, assessing, and overseeing activities and initiatives related to the CCP, Career Technical Education (CTE), and Cooperative Innovative High School (CIHS) programs for high school students. The Director will collaborate closely with school administration, guidance counselors, Career Development Coordinators, and Career and Technology Administrators within Kannapolis, Cabarrus, and Rowan County.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Actively plan and evaluate the Career & College Promise Programs.
  • Oversee initiatives and activities related to CCP, CTE, and CIHS.
  • Collaborate with Kannapolis, Cabarrus, and Rowan County School Administration to ensure program alignment and success.
  • Work closely with guidance counselors, Career Development Coordinators, and Career and Technology Administrators to support innovative high school programs.
  • Serve as a liaison for Perkins Grant Programs, supporting Career and Technical Education (CTE) opportunities as needed.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local schools to enhance program outreach and effectiveness.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Masters Degree in related field

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of: high school and community college mission, programs and practices; school partnership models; project management; basic statistical computations; standard office practices, procedures and equipment; a variety of computer applications.

Ability to: represent the department and the college to a wide range of constituencies; coordinate course development activities; learn and maintain updated knowledge of policies, procedures and current practices and trends in the area of Career and College Promise; work independently while recognizing situations that require the supervisor’s attention; maintain confidentiality; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.

This position will require frequent travel within Rowan and Cabarrus counties.

Special Instructions to Applicants:

Build out a 10 minute presentation on the benefits of a CTE Pathway as well as CCP.

Duty and Responsibility:

  • Produce Course schedule of classes for Career and College Promise Programs, Early College, and Career and Technical Education Pathways in a timely manner, utilizing Early College Liaisons and Academic Program team assistance. Develops appropriate CTE pathways, and College Transfer Pathways courses and schedules with the assistance of the program chairs.

Duty and Responsibility:

  • Assist in the creation of all needed accreditation documents for CCPP / CTE programs.

Duty and Responsibility:

  • Host monthly meetings with CTE Directors of local school districts and Principals of the Early College programs.

Duty and Responsibility:

  • Participates in the development, planning, recommendation, implementation, and administration of goals and objectives, as well as policies and procedures for assigned high school programs, and maintains accurate SACS data for institution

Duty and Responsibility:

  • Develops and recommends new or modified programs, courses, policies, and procedures; participates in monitoring, overseeing and coordinating the development of instructional changes at the local and state level.

Duty and Responsibility:

  • Develops strategies and plans for instruction of Career and Technical Education programs. Participates in the interviewing and selection / screening of students.

Duty and Responsibility:

  • Create community agency collaboration, as well as participating in the training of faculty for the high school program populations served by the institution. (High School Counselors – Rowan-Cabarrus Staff and Faculty)

Duty and Responsibility:

  • Develops and serves on a variety of committees and task forces, which promote high school programs at the community college. Develops a teaching mentoring program to ensure success across the innovative high school populations being served for all faculty, with regularly scheduled meetings and sessions.

  • Assist with CTE/CCP/EC student orientations.

  • Report needed data and documentation for CTE grant-related programs.

  • Assists in a liaison capacity for the Perkins Grant Programs assisting with Career and Technical Education opportunities as needed.

  • Assist with the scheduling, processing, and flow of student needs for CTE-CCP-EC programs.

  • Responsible for scheduling practices for CTE-CCP-ED needs for academic semester builds.

Duty and Responsibility:

  • Instruct up to 6 credits of curriculum for Rowan-Cabarrus Community College per semester (Fall and Spring)
