About SUNY Broome Community College:

SUNY Broome Community College is a comprehensive community college located in the scenic Southern Tier of New York. The College has over 7,700 students annually, and services over 6,100 students per semester in Liberal Arts, Business & Professional Studies, Health Sciences, and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programs. An additional 1,600 students are served through the College's workforce and non-credit programs.

 


Job Description:

SUNY Broome Community College invites applications for qualified candidates to teach as part-time adjunct instructors within the Engineering Technologies department.

The department is establishing a pool of candidates to fill potential part time temporary teaching positions. These positions are filled on an as-needed basis per semester and are on-going recruitment efforts.  Applicants are contacted/hired for assignments based on college needs.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Creating syllabus.
  • Teaching under the guidance of the department chairperson.
  • Helping students master course content.
  • Assessing student learning outcomes.
  • Utilizing current learning management system technology (Brightspace) in the performance of job duties.
  • Maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics.
  • Fulfilling other duties as outlined in the Faculty contract.

 
Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline. Masters or PhD preferred.

Candidates should have a strong track record of excellence in teaching. A commitment to fostering a collaborative learning environment is highly desirable.

Applicants should be available for morning or afternoon teaching assignments.

Experience sought includes:

  • Curriculum development.
  • A deep understanding of the integration of mechanical, electronic, and computer systems.
  • Five (5) or more years of industry experience.
  • Hands-on experience with robotics, automation, and intelligent systems.
  • Proficiency in using state-of-the-art laboratory equipment and software tools relevant to Mechatronics.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical circuits, electronics, digital systems and microcontrollers.
  • Proficiency in power systems, renewable energy, and control systems.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical engineering technology tools and software (e.g., CAD, MATLAB, LabVIEW).
