Salary Range: $16.79/hr-$17.35/hr DOEE

General Summary:

The Instruction and Outreach Services Librarian serves as liaison with a variety of campus academic departments, provides information literacy instruction, reference services, and other duties as assigned.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Information Literacy

  • Coordinates the collaborative and liaison efforts to integrate information literacy into the Nursing, Liberal Arts, Education, Social Work/Psychology, Native American Studies, and Science departments.
  • Delivers information literacy instruction to students and faculty through workshops and
  • Measures the effectiveness of the information literacy program.
  • Compiles, maintains and reports information literacy program statistics.
  • Contributes to information literacy program goal setting and visioning.

Reference

  • Provides reference services in person, video conferencing, on phone, and via email.
  • Maintains reference services statistical data.
  • Provides reference leadership as needed (when library technicians are unable to adequately provide reference services).
  • Provides and disseminates reference information and skills development to reference desk staff.
  • Provides suggestions for and creates online/print reference tools and guides.

Library Operation

  • Assists director with collection development.
  • Assists with circulation tasks (check-in/out, patron registration, fine payment, etc.)
  • Grant seeking/writing.
  • Assist with library events/programs (summer reading program, book sales, celebrations)
  • Active participation in campus classes, events, groups and meetings to assist in the promotion of the SKC Vision and Mission statements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required
  • Creative abilities
  • Experience with presentation, spreadsheet, and word processing skills.
  • Experience working in a library/office setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, able to work successfully with library patrons, including students, faculty, tribal members and local high school students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with library staff to accomplish library and college missions.
  • Experience and ability to work successfully with diverse populations.
  • Providing library outreach services including Early childhood reading programs, Community programs, school programs, and various events on campus.
  • Assist patrons with citation writing styles.
  • Ability to provide reference services.
