Student Financial Service Advisors are dedicated to assisting students by providing financial enrollment management in regard to payment options, financial aid eligibility and requirements, residency and academic status, and collaborates with academic advisors on student financial enrollment concerns. Each advisor has an assigned caseload that provides an opportunity to build a rapport and understand their students’ needs while providing high level, solution-oriented options.
Essential Functions:

Provides enrollment management for caseload, as directed by Student Financial Services leadership, including, but not limited to, following up with students about their payment options, financial aid eligibility and requirements, residency and academic status, and collaborates with advising on early alerts by contacting students who are at risk of financial enrollment concerns.

Assists with assessment and evaluation of the student financial service process and contributes to quality improvement initiatives for the office through the strategic action planning process.

Actively participates in Student Financial Services, advising, and stakeholder trainings and committee meetings to stay current on college and Student Services policies and procedures that relate to the success of student enrollment and retention.

Participates in ongoing professional development provided by the college and the department as required by Student Financial Services leadership.

Actively participates in their assigned school meetings and committees, as necessary or as directed by their supervisor.

Collaborates with advising team and chairs of respective caseload school to increase student success.

Assists with planning and coordinating special events and projects on and off campus as needed.

Utilizes tools and technology during appointments, including but not limited to appointment review form, Owens Internet and Intranet, Banner, DegreeWorks, Onbase, student administrative databases, Application Manager, Argos, and Department of Education web systems (COD, NSLDS, CPS).

Provides prompt and adequate documentation in Banner of student contact.

Maintains general knowledge of federal and states laws and regulations pertaining to the student account and administering of federal student aid.

Works to build relationships with students on caseload by building rapport, reaching out to students, responding to student’s inquiries within a timely manner, and encouraging students to meet with their Student Financial Services Advisor at least once per semester.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Demonstrates knowledge of current Owens Community College policy, procedures, and federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to financial aid, records, and student accounts. Recommend having knowledge of Banner, DegreeWorks, Onbase, Ozone, Applications Manager, Argos, National Student Loan Database System (NSLDS), Central Processing System (CPS), Common Origination and Disbursement system (COD).

Ability to handle stressful situations with professionalism and composure. Maintain flexibility to adapt to changing demands of student services. Ability to successfully and simultaneously complete multiple projects and tasks with minimal supervision.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree
