Overview

The Manager of Production is responsible for understanding and ensuring that the day-to-day operations of all Business Unit (BU) 276 (Survey) work runs smoothly and efficiently. Along with the other BU Leaders this position ensures that client deliverables are being delivered on time, on budget and meet NV5 and/or Client standards. This position has overall responsibility for issue tracking and resolution and manages the production staff to accomplish successful completion and delivery of contracted work. This position also maintains and manages relationships with subcontractors while also searching for internal workshare opportunities. This position ensures that BU 276 projects are planned, executed, QA'd, QC'd and delivered on time and within budget.

Responsibilities
    Initiation: Collect initial client requirements, identify assumptions, assess project feasibility, develop objectives and milestones, engage necessary stakeholders
  • Coordination: Assign tasks to Survey Technicians as needed.
  • Planning: Create project plans, estimate costs and schedule, assist in business development and proposal process, develop PM plan, prepare procurement documents, hold kick off meeting
  • Executing: Create project documents, setup project planner, setup project numbers, conduct procurement, supervise and participate in project work, implement changes, perform quality assurance and audits, manage and evaluate project and team performance, conduct production meetings, maintain communication with stakeholders
  • Monitoring and Controlling: Measure project performance, perform quality control, maintain project information in document management systems, verify scope, work closely with accounting Project Analysts, perform risk assessments and audits (lessons learned)
  • Closing: Ensure final delivery of product to the client, seek feedback on the product and process, conduct project retrospective when needed, communicate findings to Executive Team, update the lessons learned and process improvement
  • Coordinate with BU Director to accomplish project success and financial reporting
  • Issues identification, tracking and resolution
  • Workshare: Identify staff with lower utilization and reach out to other business units that may need assistance
  • Manages relationships with subcontractors for the BU
  • Supports BU Director, Managers and Leader in:
    • Revenue forecasting
    • Utilization Forecasting
    • Resource management
    • Tactical execution
    • Meeting long term strategic goals
  • Coordinate with BU Director to implement new and updated programs that advance needed technology
  • Develop, implement and audit the following Operational KPIs and related analytics for project and staff performance
    • Utilization rates ($ Total Utilization)
    • Project and Staff Effective Multiplier
    • Project budgets
  • Ensures that Best Practices are maintained by the teams
  • Support BU Leader in reporting and internal communication status updates
  • All other reasonable duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Exceptional communication skills & professionalism
  • Ability to enforce all safety protocols with staff
  • Strong proven experience creating topographic mapping deliverables
  • Strong Civil3D (Autodesk), Microstation and TopoDOT skills and experience
  • Strong LiDAR understanding and necessary software to produce survey grade datasets
  • Strong understanding of digital photogrammetry and associated software
  • Strong understanding of Land Survey control requirements and specifications
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Ability to focus on the BU strategic goals
  • Ability to prioritize changing needs
  • Ability to talk in detail about geomatics deliverables, surveying requirements, and coordinate systems
  • Survey grade mapping expertise
Qualifications
  • A 2-year degree
  • LSIT or EIT strongly preferred
  • 2+ years' experience as a project coordinator
  • Strong technical geomatics background
  • Familiarity or experience with land surveying
  • Exceptional communication skills and professionalism
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Initiative and follow-through
  • Problem solving skills and critical thinking
  • Familiarity with project management processes and tools
  • Client relations experience
  • Successful evaluation and judgment skills
  • Experience using MS Office Suite

The pay range for this California position is $50.00- $67.00 per hour; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
