Job Summary

The Department of Industrial and Operations Engineering (IOE) at the University of Michigan College of Engineering is seeking applications for a Lecturer to teach a Probability and Statistics for Engineers course during the Winter 2025 semester.

Responsibilities*

Teach a course on Graphical Representation of Data; Axioms of Probability; Conditioning, Bayes Theorem; Discrete Distributions (Geometric, Binomial, Poisson); Continuous Distributions (Normal Exponential, Weibull); Covariance and Correlation; Point and Interval Estimation, Likelihood Functions, Test of Hypotheses for Means, Variances and Proportions for One and Two Populations.

The lecturer has responsibility for teaching the courses as outlined and is expected to attend course meetings, hold office hours, and handle routine matters related to instruction. College of Engineering courses are held in-person on the Ann Arbor campus.

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Additional Information

This position is posted for the Winter 2025 term at 30% effort (12 hours per week).

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
