Senior Analyst, Compensation

Job Description

We are currently seeking a Senior Analyst to be a part of our Compensation team in Talent Engagement who will advance the institution’s proud tradition of excellence in academics, student life and community service.

JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Compensation Manager, performs a variety of responsible professional, technical and analytical classification and compensation activities related to the maintenance of the college compensation system.

Maintains and ensures consistent application of the college’s classification standards for job classes.

Completes professional level analysis, reporting and service delivery, including job analysis and job descriptions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Evaluate new and existing positions by investigating and analyzing position duties and responsibilities to determine appropriate classification and salary levels; conduct job analysis (desk audits) as necessary.

Review employee request for classification review and make classification/pay level determinations; inclusive of review of job analysis questionnaires, confer with managers and employees, evaluate jobs, prepare written reports on findings and communicate with stakeholders regarding the result of compensation work.

Manage and coordinate the design, administration and reporting of online and hard copy surveys.

Gather and compile market data on compensation, benefits, and performance management practices for all positions utilizing market data, salary survey information from national, regional, and local sources.

Conduct wage, salary and surveys, analyze the data and assist with the development of market price compensation levels to establish the fair market value of jobs.

Utilize published or conduct ad hoc surveys to obtain and analyze market pay rates, make recommendations on appropriate pay grade level, review recommendations within HCC context for internal equity and prepare reports on findings and handle administrative steps to formalize recommendations.

Create and update job descriptions for all positions and ensure accuracy prior to publication in the applicant tracking system.

Work within HCC systems and procedures to ensure all aspects of job creation are addressed in a timely manner; including but not limited to: creation of position numbers, posting of new and revised descriptions, etc. Responsible for the management of intermediate to small-sized projects that have a moderate impact on the organization.

Provide analytical support and data analysis on projects and human resources metrics.

Serve as a source for the department in working with outside agencies and consultants in compensation related matters.

Collaborate with other Talent Engagement departments to ensure compensation related data is accurate, updated and processed in a timely fashion.

Research situations as they arise as related to compensation to provide clarity for resolution in consideration of contract provisions, historical practices, similar situations, etc. Maintain the Talent Engagement website for on-line access to job descriptions and other compensation-related information.

Create presentation ready compensation reports for review and final approval using Excel, PowerPoint and other reporting software applications.

Perform advanced report writing and maintenance of approved job evaluation documents.

Serve as departmental liaison to Information Technology for compensation database enhancements and revised reporting requirements.

Work with Talent Technology, Payroll and Benefits on routine compensation updates and enhancements in the information management system.

Assist with the development occupational qualifications and job leveling matrices.

Audit all employee stipends for completeness in an accurate and timely manner.

Respond to routine inquiries regarding compensation guidelines and policies.

Develop and document procedures to streamline processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field required
  • 3 years of Talent Engagement experience, including 1 year in Compensation and Talent Technology required

Licensing & Certification

  • Valid Texas Driver License

Working Conditions
General Office. Must be able to perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations; remain in a stationary position during shift; move items weighing up to 25 pounds; position self to operate job equipment; apply established protocols in a timely manner. Must access, input and retrieve information from technology devices; communicate with others to accomplish job requirements. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
