Job Description

The University of Notre Dame Enterprises and Events (UEE) division is currently hiring for the position of On-Call Barista at Café J within the Morris Inn and at Ivan’s Café within Raclin Murphy Museum of Art. The UEE division leads the University’s event management, hospitality, and customer service functions while supporting student life, academic endeavors, and research initiatives.

Why this position?
The Barista will assist in preparing coffee/tea beverages with efficiency and accuracy according to recipes and brand standards. This position is a prominent guest facing position with our University guests staying at the Morris Inn, and other distinguished campus personnel. The Barista position works in a fast paced environment; delivering the UEE global service standards to coworkers, students, and guests.

Essential duties include:
  • Welcome, anticipate, and respond in action to the needs of guests
  • Describe, prepare and serve all food and beverages according to the brand standards for recipe, service times, and final presentation
  • Deliver service in accordance UEE Hospitality and brand established standards
  • Create welcoming and hospitable environments at all times
  • Clean, sanitize, organize and stock work, dining, storage, and prep areas
  • Stock preparation, service, and sales areas
  • Clean/sanitize equipment and utensils
  • Clean/Sanitize and arrange tables and chairs, take out trash as needed
  • Accurately create guest checks, communicate with co-workers, tender payments, and perform accounting processes to secure and deposit revenues according to accounting/audit standards
  • Perform additional tasks necessary to support maintaining a hospitable work environment and an environment of anticipation for serving the next guest, including all side work, cleaning, and support for others

Minimum Qualifications

  • 1 to 6 months experience
  • Constant standing walking, bending and lifting required
  • Must be able to safely use beverage equipment, knives, cleaning chemicals
  • Lift/carry 35lbs.
  • Must obtain and retain an Indiana Alcohol Beverage Permit / license, and a Serve Safe certification
