Overview

The UAS Flight Acquisition Manager will oversee multiple teams that are deployed throughout North America, and have responsibility for UAS remote sensing physical assets (sensors, aircraft, vehicles, and survey equipment).

Work Environment:

    Location: NV5 Geospatial Office San Diego, CA
  • Potential travel up 20% of the time

Responsibilities

Primary Accountabilities

OPERATIONAL

* Performs coordination for all acquisition efforts assigned.

* Oversight of staff assignments including scheduling, reports, and reviews.

* Develop and prioritize a schedule for projects in consultation with Project Managers, Flight Operations Manager, and Director of Flight Operations..

* Schedule assets to cover the production schedule.

* Mission planning includes reviewing job specifications, weather interpretation, ground support coordination, onsite project coordination and client coordination.

* Work daily with all Flight Department staff to determine mission priorities.

* Maintain operational control of the aircraft monitoring mission plan, departure, and arrival times

* Manage equipment shipping to and from project sites.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

* Maintain project management software as it relates to acquisition efforts.

* Responsible for notification of project status or completion to Account Managers, Project Managers and Director of Data Aerial Operations.

* Create flight plans and develop project plans in support of estimating.

* Create and update Project Tracking documents and Flight Backlog

PROJECT SUPPORT

* Acquire data as a crew member.

* Assist with sensor installation and removal from the aircraft as needed.

* Provide remote technical support as needed.

POLICIES/PROCEDURES

* Develop process and procedures as assigned.

* Assist in development and adherence to the Flight Department budget including creating and submitting Asset Requests and Purchase Orders

SAFETY/COMPLIANCE

* Manage pilot training program and regulatory compliance.

* Manage aircraft maintenance tracking

* Develop and maintain a corporate culture emphasizing safety as our number one priority.

* Understand and comply with ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements applicable to our business. Maintain Operational Control of the aircraft.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years progressive experience in aviation or UAS and remote sensing technology
  • Understanding of geospatial concepts and survey methods
  • FAA Part 107 rating or equivalent training
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree

  • Ability to travel up to 20%

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Outside flight operations, exposure to the cold and heat, elements of the seasons.

The pay range for this California position is $79,040- $93,600 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per California Senate Bill 1162. Base pay information is based on market location. Applicants should apply via the NV5 careers site.
