Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

Student Technician for the DIT Service Desk. Provide first-line technical support and assistance to end-users via phone, email, or in chat. Answer general university questions on the campus information line. Assist with user account management, including password resets and directory id activation. Troubleshoot issues related to DIT supported services such as eduroam and email. Educate users on basic technical procedures and self-help resources to encourage self-sufficiency. Log incoming incidents and requests, routing to the appropriate team when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • Must be currently an enrolled/attending undergraduate student at the University of Maryland, College Park

Experience:
  • Minimum to no experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking skills to be able to resolve issues quickly over the phone.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Any customer service experience, or IT experience.
  • Available to work morning shifts.
  • Familiarity with with both Apple and Windows operating systems.
  • Fluency in a 2nd language (preferable Spanish).
