Position Summary:

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is seeking a Graduation and Credential Advisor to support students in their educational journeys and provide guidance on academic advising, credit for prior learning, and graduation eligibility. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and advising a caseload of targeted students.
  • Determining student eligibility for credits from prior learning (e.g., portfolio reviews, professional certifications, testing options).
  • Handling reverse transfer and graduation processes.
  • Performing and managing student academic data entry.
  • Researching and analyzing student data.
  • Overseeing degree program requirements.
  • Making decisions on course equivalencies, substitutions, and advanced courses for graduation.
  • Managing the degree evaluation process and generating various reports.
  • Performing additional duties related to student matriculation and graduation.

Required Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in counseling, education, human services, or related field, and at least two (2) years of experience in post-secondary education; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Duty and Responsibility:

  • Manages the degree program requirements at all levels; verifies graduation eligibility based on Rowan-Cabarrus policies and procedures, as well as adhering to guidelines set forth by the NCCCS Common Course Library. Manages and determines student eligibility in Reverse Transfer process.

Duty and Responsibility:

  • Advises students on credit for prior learning options, to include testing/assessment, professional certifications, previous coursework credits, and portfolios. Through the Director of Assessment and Credit for Prior Learning, works collaboratively with academic Program Chairs and Deans for awarding this credit for students.

Duty and Responsibility:

  • Assists students, staff, and faculty with understanding the degree evaluation reports, including verifying validity of course substitutions and exceptions, Credit for Prior Learning, and Credit by Professional Certification.

Duty and Responsibility:

  • Manages and performs student academic data entry in the College system and utilizes comprehensive data systems for research, review, and reporting requirements; analyzes assessment and evaluation data for credential discovery and graduation of students.

Duty and Responsibility:

  • Manages and advises a caseload of targeted students to be proactive in assisting with retention, completion, and graduation of those students.
