Summary of Purpose

Responsible for the integration of simulation into the nursing and allied health education curricula at the College as a means to improve patient safety, achieve student learning outcomes, and promote excellence in allied health programs and clinical practice. This position is expected to work in a multi-cultural diverse working environment.

Typical Duties

This description is intended to indicate the types of duties and responsibilities requested of the employee assigned this title. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all the duties and responsibilities that may be required:


  • Leads, supervises and provides overall direction and daily management of training in the simulation center.
  • Coordinates the scheduling of training among users; develops a training calendar and reservation process.
  • Provides strategic leadership for the administrative and operational responsibilities of the simulation center; develops, maintains, and evaluates a 5-year strategic plan for simulation.
  • Responsible for organizing and leading special events at the simulation center, including tours and visits.
  • Recruits, manages, reviews, coaches and develops staff to ensure effective maintenance and operation of all equipment.
  • Maintains adequate staffing levels; educates staff and faculty on new products that will enhance the simulation center in order to align with the mission of the College.
  • Conduct regular meetings with simulation staff.
  • Responsible for business development of the simulation center, assists leadership in establishing community partners and develops income generated projects where possible.
  • Work with the leadership to develop intermediate and long-term budget plans that include forecasting staff, equipment procurement, hardware and software replacement cycles, and human and other resources.
  • Develops and implements policies, procedures and practice standards consistent with the Student Learning Outcomes (SLO’s) in nursing and health professions programs.
  • Collaborates with faculty and staff to design, implement and evaluate simulation-based learning experiences according to best practice standards in simulation to assist students in meeting established course and program objectives.
  • Assures regulatory compliance with the simulation center’s activities; achieves and assures ongoing accreditation of the Simulation Center's educational programs; oversees annual program quality assurance plans for the simulation center.
  • Collects simulation data and disseminates information to stakeholders.
  • Promotes interprofessional education among Health Professions.
  • Assures regulatory compliance with the simulation center’s activities.
  • Creates and maintains a respectful and professional working environment, incorporating active learning, reflective thinking, and a confidential debriefing process.
  • Researches and promotes the adoption of creative and emerging trends in clinical, instructional simulation and multi-media technologies.
  • Design and implement educational programs for faculty development related to simulation.
  • Review simulation evaluations, make recommendations for improvement in collaboration with course faculty, and provide reports to leadership.
  • Participates in ongoing professional development to maintain knowledge of new technology and policy/procedure revisions; maintain membership in one nationally recognized organization dedicated to promoting simulation-based education.
  • Work with the community and the College foundation to secure donations of equipment for the continued growth of the simulation center.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.
  • Ability to work additional hours, as needed.

 

Minimum Education and Experience

EDUCATION: Master’s degree in Simulation, Health Professions, or related field is required. Doctorate Degree Preferred (Ph.D., DNP DNSc, Ed.D., etc) .

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years’ experience in planning, developing, implementing, evaluating clinical skills training programs. Simulation immersion training and national certification preferred. At least one (1) year of instructional experience is preferred.

LICENSE: Applicants must have a current, unrestricted license or be eligible to obtain a license if hired.
