Job Description

Under the direction of the Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Dean of Career, Technical and Workforce Education is responsible for effective, creative leadership for instruction and industry partnerships.

  • Supervises the following instructional and service areas; Accounting, Administrative and Healthcare Office Professional, Automotive Technology, Facility and Service Technician, Business, Carpentry, Computer Aided Design, Criminal Justice/Peace Officer Economics, and Welding as well as Business and Workforce Education.

  • Plans, develops and implements innovative programs that offer supportive student learning environments. 

  • Advances innovative business, industry and community partnerships that fosters economic development and community engagement.

  • Provides day-to-day management and strategic leadership for instructional innovation, academic and strategic planning, assessment and curriculum, course/program articulation, scheduling, faculty/staff mentorship and professional development, academic program review, budgeting, fiscal and human resources, continuous quality improvement, and pedagogical innovation.

  • Leads innovation in secondary partnerships associated with the Carl D. Perkins Act.  The dean serves in a leadership capacity on the RCTC Academic Affairs Cabinet, President's Management Team, Minnesota State, and other Higher Education partners.

  • As a part of the College's academic leadership team the dean works with business and industry, community organizations and other entities to understand and address local and regional educational and workforce needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a discipline reflective of position’s current division programming.

  • Three years of experience in post-secondary educational leadership.

  • Demonstrated experience in educational program and/or curriculum design and development.

  • Demonstrated success in fostering collaborative working relationships.

  • Budget experience.

  • Experience in staffing, development and evaluation.

  • Evidence of an understanding of the diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of college students.

  • Experience in managing multiple complex projects.

  • Strong organizational and budgetary management skills

  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal, communication, organizational and facilitation skills.

 

Preferred Qualification 

  • Earned Doctorate

  • Ability to articulate programmatic and fundraising goals and relate those goals to college strategic goals and academic programming needs.

  • Knowledge of higher education issues and the ability to relate those issues to governmental, corporate, and philanthropic communities in Minnesota.

  • Supervision of faculty and instructional programs.

  • Demonstrated understanding of Program Review, Strategic Planning and evidence of systematic decision making.

  • Knowledge of accreditation processes.

  • Evidence of professional leadership.

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity.

  • Experience working in a collective bargaining environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work in a fast-paced environment requiring sound decision-making ability and agility.

 

Other Requirements

  • Full salary range is $93,713 to $149,940 effective 7/1/2024
