About the Department

The Department of Clinical Sciences (DOCS) is dedicated to excellence in educating and training veterinarians and comparative biomedical scientists, furthering health care and wellness through discovery and clinical research, providing outstanding and compassionate medical care to a diverse range of animal patients, effectively engaging animal-owning public, government and industry partners, and providing leadership in integrating biomedical sciences to advance One Health.

Essential Job Duties

The primary role of this position is to support the day-to-day operations of the Domestic Animal Reproductive Microbiomes Laboratory. Responsibilities include:

Lab Organization: Maintain and organize the laboratory.
Benchtop Experiments: Perform DNA extraction, PCR, and other routine lab tasks.
Sample Collection Assistance: Help with collecting samples as needed.
Collaboration: Work alongside students and house officers rotating through the lab.
Animal Interaction: Work with domestic animals, primarily horses and dogs, depending on the candidate’s comfort level.

Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team
Organization of the laboratory and research records
General knowledge of laboratory procedures

Experience in biological or biomedical laboratory
Comfort around domestic animals
