"Novel Statistical and Machine Learning Methods for Spatial Transcriptomics Datasets"

The Department of Biostatistics at University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a postdoctoral fellow. The postdoctoral fellow will work with a collaborative team of scientists across a wide spectrum of medical disciplines including cancer, cardiovascular disease, genetics, and nephrology. Multiple collaborative opportunities are available. Our collaborators include clinicians and methodologists at various departments of the University. Outside UAB, the postdoctoral fellow will also have the opportunity to collaborate with Dr. Veera Baladandayuthapani from Department of Biostatistics at University of Michigan.

Duties and responsibilities: The postdoctoral fellow will work with Dr. Satwik Acharyya at UAB with a primary research focus on developing novel statistical and machine learning methods for spatial transcriptomics datasets. The candidate will be responsible for analysis of large-scale datasets and development of scalable and data integration based methods for high-dimensional genomics data. The postdoctoral fellow will work closely with their advisors and research teams to conceptualize research questions, analyze data, and write manuscripts.

Position qualification: Candidates with a doctoral degree in biostatistics, statistics, bioinformatics, computational biology, or a closely related discipline are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have solid quantitative and communication skills, proficiency with statistical software (e.g., R, Python, C++), and strong track record of publications.
