Job Description

Rate of Pay: $25.00 - $32.00/hour USD

Perform routine general maintenance and repair functions within approved guidelines and as directed. Colleague may achieve this level based on the successful completion of accredited courses and experience in a commercial and/or professional certification in HVAC. Has knowledge of common and advanced concepts, practices and procedures within the HVAC field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Preforms a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. Typically repots to a supervisor or manager. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. All colleagues are obligated to support and uphold the Fairmont Grand Del Mar's standards of excellence as outlined in the Fairmont Grand Del Mar's Colleague Handbook.

Maintain positive guest relations at all times, resolving guest complaints and ensuring guest satisfaction. Greet guests in a courteous and caring manner using Forbes standards of service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular inspections of commercial laundry equipment to identify potential malfunctions or areas in need of repair.

  • Perform routine maintenance on laundry equipment, such as lubrication, cleaning, and adjustment of parts.

  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs and/or maintenance as needed.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues with laundry equipment, including washers, dryers, folders, and ironers.

  • Repair or replace defective laundry equipment parts, such as belts, bearings, motors, and electrical components.

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including parts used, labor hours, and cost.

  • Install new laundry equipment as needed.

  • Follow all safety protocols and adhere to regulatory standards for the use of laundry equipment.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

  • Complies with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable federal, State and local codes, regulations and requirements. Dispose of materials according to regulations.

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and effective laundry services.

  • Ensure adherence to all OSHA regulations and internal safety policies and procedures.

  • Supports other Engineers as needed.

  • Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular attendance record.

  • Maintain an adequate stock of parts and ensure cleanliness in assigned spaces.

  • Adherence to Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and safety precautions.

  • Operates company vehicles as required.

  • Other duties as assigned by management.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Three years of experience in commercial laundry equipment repair and maintenance experience.

  • Must be able to read Engineering drawings and technical literature.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure and technical manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or colleagues.

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Must be able to successfully pass applicable skill testing.

  • Material Handling Equipment certification as required.

  • Valid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record may be required.

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in a luxury hotel resort environment.

The colleague frequently is required to stand; walk, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or sit. The colleague must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Fairmont Grand Del Mar is open 24hours per day, seven (7) days per week; therefore, you must be flexible to work any and all shifts.

While perfuming the duties of this job, the colleague is exposed to hazardous chemicals, odor, dust, moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. Work surfaces may be slippery, steep, and/or rugged terrain.

The colleague may work in outside weather conditions and may be required to work in inclement weather. The colleague is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions and to wet and/or humid conditions.
