Job Description

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Deck System Advanced Training Specialist to deliver and support comprehensive training for shipboard deck systems, focusing on the Delivery of the Deck System Advanced Group Training (D-SAGT) program. This role involves on-site training and ongoing support to enhance shipboard deck systems' operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Shipboard Delivery:
    • Task 1A:
      • Conduct shipboard training as directed by the PMS 339 representative.
      • Perform In-Brief sessions to introduce training objectives and scope.
      • Execute mentored Self-Assessment Groom Checklists training for targeted deck systems, documenting abnormalities with photos and detailed descriptions.
      • Assist the Ship's Force in documenting abnormalities into the Corrective Maintenance Action Plan (CSMP) as required.
      • Deliver classroom training on pre-selected deck systems using D-SAGT materials provided by the D-SAGT Mobile Training Team, including Deck and Electrical/Mechanical subject matter experts.
      • Provide training curriculum (both hard copy and CD) to command leadership for Short/Long range training plan implementation for shipboard Deck System training.
      • Supply a tailored CD containing all relevant technical manuals, Ship's Information Books (SIBs), Boat Information Books (BIBs), Class Advisories (CLADs), ship drawings, and other technical documents for the ship's use.
      • Conduct Out-Brief sessions to summarize training outcomes and address any immediate issues.
      • Generate and submit an End of Mission Report to the PMS 339 representative.
  2. Coordination and Execution:
    • Task 1B:
      • Coordinate all execution details with the designated PMS 339 representative to ensure seamless delivery and integration of training efforts.
  3. Training and Development:
    • Task 1C:
      • Coordinate and assist in the training and professional development of assigned Sailors, ensuring they receive the necessary support and resources.
  4. System Improvement:
    • Task 1D:
      • Identify deficiencies in Deck System documentation, procedures, and operations, and recommend effective solutions.
  5. Ongoing Support:
    • Task 1E:
      • Provide continued Deck System Subject Matter Expert (SME) support between D-SAGT execution events, including:
        • Sustainment of D-SAGT curriculum with reviews and updates as needed.
        • Facilitate Train the Trainer events to enhance training delivery capabilities.
        • Conduct formal lifecycle reviews of curriculum for both in-development and completed courses.
        • Review and provide input on training equipment and simulators to support course development.
        • Analyze Deck System data and metrics for trend analysis.
        • Develop Manpower, Personnel, and Training (MPT) impact statements and analysis for Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) certifications and Shipboard Control Documents (SCDs).
        • Review Deck MPT products such as FEAs, NTSPs, and NEOCS packages.
        • Ensure the availability of the most current technical documentation for D-SAGT events.
        • Participate in stakeholder forums including TYCOM readiness and Seamanship Wholeness reviews.
        • Offer technical reach-back services and support for surface ships.
Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • Minimum 10 years of experience as an Electrical Systems Technician (afloat), EM rating preferred.
    • Minimum 10 years of experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting power and lighting circuits, electrical fixtures, motors, generators, controllers, switchboards, voltage and frequency regulators, alarms, and electrical test equipment.
      • Proficient in Electrical Safety including Tag-out/Lock-out and deranged equipment safety protocols.
    • Minimum 10 years of experience with Joint Fleet Maintenance principles, practices, processes, and administration.
    • Experience at Intermediate Maintenance Activity, including Quality Assurance, preferred.
  • Certifications:
    • Experience as a Maintenance & Material Management Coordinator (3MC) preferred.
  • Assignments:
    • At least one tour of duty in one or more of the following roles:
      • Afloat Training Group Instructor.
      • Naval Beach Group.
      • Navy Safety Center Deck Systems Analyst.
      • Electrical INSURV Assessor.
