Position Summary

The Academic Support & Student Success Department is recruiting for three (3) student workers to work in the Learning Lab.  This position works to logistically support the staff in the Academic Support and Student Success Division in the delivery of student-centered support services. This position assists in responding to student inquiries while fostering an environment of exceptional customer service. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Assist with performing office duties such as answering phones, greeting students, monitoring email, and entering data as needed
  2. Assist students with signing in to the learning lab and answer general questions related to the Academic Support and Student Success Division
  3. Assist with the scheduling of appointments for the Learning Assistants as needed
  4. Maintain a clean, stocked snack area
  5. Assist with preparation for Academic Support and Student Success events
  6. Maintain office bulletin boards, handouts, and social media
  7. Follow all FERPA guidelines
  8. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Learning Lab Coordinator and staff

Qualifications

  • Enrollment in a minimum of 6 credit hours in the Fall and Spring semesters and 3 credit hours in the summer
  • English proficiency
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communication skills
  • Friendly and professional attitude and good interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to establish and meet timelines
  • Ability to function as a team player who is dependable, punctual, organized, and detail-oriented

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle controls, keypads, etc. Will be required to sit and reach with hands and arms as well as, sit, stand, and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds while loading event supplies, booth equipment, office supplies, and paper. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, some color vision, and the ability to adjust focus from documents to computer screen. Hearing light to moderate sound is required for this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
