Montgomery College has an immediate need for a full-time Simulation Learning Experiences Coordinator on the Rockville campus. The typical work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00pm This is an exempt, non-bargaining, grade 29
position.

The Simulated Learning Experiences Coordinator is responsible for directing all aspects of an experiential simulation-based learning program for students. Under supervision and/or direction, the coordinator will oversee the administration and direction of a multifaceted technology center. The coordinator will take ownership of the lab and develop its outreach jointly with the vision of the Macklin Business Institute, the Business Administration program and the College at large. The coordinator will work with students in the MBI program, the BEACHAMPS program, and other traditional students. In addition, the coordinator will partner with the Workforce Development and Continuing Education program to facilitate business courses in the lab. The coordinator will also interact with industry experts and alumni to ensure that the programming is adapted over time to provide students with the necessary skills in a dynamic work environment. The coordinator will oversee the primary operations of the lab including usage tracking, ensuring operations of the lab hardware and software and student worker staffing.
Reporting to the Business, Economics, Accounting, Computer Applications, Hospitality Management, and Paralegal Studies (BEACAHMPS) dean, the Simulation Learning Experiences Coordinator has duties that include but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with faculty to incorporate Lab resources into academic course curriculum to impart experiential learning.
- Provide support to faculty and students using the lab and manage lab use schedule.
- Work with the office of Institutional Technology to manage the license agreements and contracts associated with the lab.
- Manage student workers including the hiring, scheduling, and payroll processes.
- Deploy the student workers to ensure that the lab is continually staffed, maintained, and meeting the needs of faculty and students.
- Develop support materials for the simulations, credentialing, and other activities related to the lab, and develop and maintain and report metrics on lab usage and impact on the College’s curriculum and community.
- Develop, promote and run summer business camps for Montgomery County Public School (MCPS) students and other segments.
- Manage credentialing for simulations (or other completed activities).
- Prepare and teach non-credit workshops aimed at promoting student proficiency with software applications, such as Bloomberg, Morningstar, etc.
- Attend conferences and training sessions to continually build knowledge and maintain best practices.
Create and manage a guest speaker calendar, market and manage events. - Advise student trips to finance events.
- Build business/community partnerships related to business initiatives.
- Manage website content to promote the lab and the activities therein.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of business and management practices, procedures, ethics, and laws; of the
inner workings of capital markets; of sustainable academic programs; of experiential learning programs; of student recruitment methodologies; of finance platforms such as Bloomberg and Morningstar; of integrating enrichment opportunities into courses. - Skill in leadership, verbal and written communications, interpersonal relationships, organization, planning, problem solving and the use of a desktop computer and Microsoft Office Suite software appropriate for the job.
- Ability to guide students as part of an experiential learning program.
- Ability to educate, train and work cooperatively with others to expand a sustainable academic program.
Ability to grow a program’s use/enrollment and impact. - Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment working with students with diverse learning abilities.
- Ability to travel with and chaperone participating students
Minimum Education, Training and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or equivalent.
- Two years of experience in the financial services industry or in a university finance lab.
- One year of experience working with faculty to integrate enrichment opportunities into their courses.
- Two plus years teaching experience (graduate level teaching assistant (TA) experience will be considered).
- Experience with finance platforms.
- Experience growing a program’s use/enrollment and impact (entrepreneurial).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with donor-funded programs.
- Experience overseeing a program that works with multiple student, faculty and administrative constituencies.
- Experience teaching with computer simulations.
- Portfolio management experience.
- The equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
Licenses and Certifications
- A valid driver’s license with a good driving record may be required.
Hiring Range: $69,668 - $90,580 annually. Initial salary placement is based on candidate experience and internal equity.
