Resolution Systems Institute (RSI) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that is nationally recognized as the leader in court alternative dispute resolution (ADR). Formed in 1995 and based in Chicago, our mission is to strengthen access to justice by enhancing court ADR systems through expertise in research and evaluation, dispute system design, mediation services, and creation and dissemination of resources.

At RSI, we have a passion for innovations in court ADR that improve access to justice, especially for self-represented individuals with limited resources. Our staff is the key to our success. We work closely and collaboratively to succeed not only in our mission but to thrive and grow as individuals.

RSI is looking to hire a new Chief Executive Officer to lead the organization. The position can be based out of the Chicago office, hybrid, or fully remote within the US.

Job Overview

The CEO is responsible for the organization’s day-to-day leadership and executive-level strategy and for supporting the staff through the implementation of the programmatic goals and objectives that allow RSI to maintain its position as the leading organization in the court ADR field.

The ideal candidate for this position has an extensive understanding of mediation, has leadership experience within a small to medium non-profit organization, and likes to be on the cutting edge of research and innovation.

Job Details

  • Ensures ongoing programmatic excellence by providing oversight and day-to-day support to the organization and its programs
  • Leads a remote staff by providing supervision, guidance, motivation, and mentorship
  • Collaborates with staff to create and implement a funding strategy to ensure proper financial support from grants, contracts, individual contributions, and other sources
  • Creates and maintains an environment that allows for the appropriate accountability and authority to belong to each team member
  • Manages processes to plan, develop, operate, and assess RSI’s programs to ensure maximum impact and to provide a model for other entities
  • Works with staff and the Board to develop and monitor annual income and expense budgets
  • Designs and implements activities to develop closer relationships between RSI and RSI supporters
  • Works with the Board to develop Board membership and its support for the organization’s strategic direction, activities, and staff
  • Maintains confidence and enthusiasm of the Board by engaging them in RSI’s activities and providing timely information on the key triumphs and pressing needs
  • Cultivates relationships with staff, Board members, current and future donors, courts, and other partners
  • Maintains the position of the leading expert in court ADR – individually and organizationally
  • Represents RSI and promotes the expertise of the organization to the ADR field, agencies, organizations, media, and the general public
  • Attracts, develops, and retains a skilled talent pool and manages professional staff
  • Completes other duties as required to ensure the ongoing success of the organization

Requirements

  • Extensive non-profit operations knowledge
  • Deep knowledge of dispute resolution, especially mediation
  • Understanding of non-profit funding, including private and public, grants, and contracts
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Leadership experience
  • Ability to mentor and motivate team members
  • An entrepreneurial spirit that values innovation
  • Capacity to address complex challenges and make decisions
  • Ability to relate well to people of diverse backgrounds

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
