Easterseals Western and Central Pennsylvania is a non-profit organization providing services to those with disabilities. We are looking to hire a dynamic Assistant Director of Children’s Programs. The Assistant Director works under the Director to oversee our 3 Approved Private Schools for children with special needs ages 3-8. The schools are in West Mifflin, Cranberry Township and Export/Murrysville.
JOB SUMMARY-Assistant Director, Children’s Programs
The Assistant Director, Children’s Programs is responsible for assisting with the running of the children’s programs in the Pittsburgh area. Program and service operation follows the objectives, policies, procedures, and philosophy of Easterseals. The position oversees all aspects of the children’s programs including but not limited to education, each therapy service, and Human Resources.
QUALIFICATIONS-Assistant Director, Children’s Programs
- Master’s degree in education required.
- PA Professional Certificate in Special Education or Mental/Physical Handicap required.
- PA Professional Certificate in Special Education Supervision required.
- Completion of educational credits needed to maintain license/certification required.
- Teaching experience in either Early Childhood or Special Education required.
- Supervisory experience in a Special Education Program preferred.
- Administrative experience in an approved private school setting preferred.
- Acceptable Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse History Clearance and FBI Clearance required.
- Passing of physical examination and TB required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES-Assistant Director, Children’s Programs
- Assist the Director of Children’s Programs to operate each school program in compliance with the regulations and guidelines of the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Assure the State Board of Non-Public and Approved Private Schools yearly licensee requirements are met.
- Make recommendations to the children’ programs for improved delivery of services across all service areas.
- Coordinate and implement in-services for employees who work in children’s programs. This is done in collaboration with program directors.
- Implement interdisciplinary aspects of the students’ current Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) which includes communication systems, behavioral interventions, feeding approaches, sensory diet, and mobility recommendations.
- Assist in the supervision of employees in the children’s programs. Assist in the annual performance evaluations of all employees.
- Work collaboratively with Easterseals Human Resource Department to maintain the staffing pattern across all three-school school sites.
- Lead the hiring process of all employees across the three-school system. This includes recruitment and management of each step of the hire process.
HOURS AND BENEFITS-Assistant Director, Children’s Programs
- Work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- The annual salary is $60,000.
