CAMP DESCRIPTION
YMCA Camp Weaver is an exceptional camp facility located in beautiful Southeast Greensboro, North Carolina. The camp consists of 132 acres of gorgeous rolling hills, wooded areas, fields, hiking trails, lakes, creeks, shaded spaces, high quality director housing, modern cabins and facilities that provide an ideal setting for a high-quality camp, retreat and outdoor education programs. Weaver is a model camp, successfully serving children from all walks of life with support from an important partner network. YMCA Camp Weaver offers overnight camp, summer day camp, mini-camps, outdoor education and service-learning opportunities for schools as well as group rentals and retreats. Camp has a focus on life skill activities such as cooking, gardening, ropes courses, canoes, kayaks, archery, paintball, swimming, mountain biking, skateboarding, horseback riding and much more.
POSITION SUMMARY
As a senior leader in the YMCA of Greensboro, the Executive Director has stewardship over and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Camp Weaver facility. This position provides Cause-Driven leadership in team member supervision and development, fiscal management, board development, financial development, program administration, facility & equipment management and community relations/partnerships. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Greensboro is responsible for carrying out our promise to strengthen the foundations of community with focus on Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility while upholding our values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
STARTING SALARY RANGE: $79,000 - $85,000 plus housing

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Leads with equity and inclusion, ensuring all campers and program participants fell welcome and are treated with dignity and respect. Builds a staff and volunteer team reflecting the diversity of the community.
- Strong overnight camp operations background with a proven track record for initiating growth in operations and annual giving; as well as strong fiscal and property management.
- Board of Managers and Committee Development for Camp Weaver.
- Team member recruitment, development, supervision, and evaluation.
- Develops camper retention and recruitment strategies to increase camp enrollment.
- Lead capital improvement campaign/project to enhance and expand the camp experience.
- Nurture and grow collaborative partnerships with other community-based organizations, businesses government entities.
- Interpretation and communication of the objectives and programs of the YMCA to the community through public communication and participates actively in community organizations.
- Administers approved budget and takes appropriate action to maintain fiscal soundness of the camp.
- Executes the decisions of the camp board and committees involving written correspondence, personal contact and representation by appropriate action.
- Reviews and evaluates the enrollment, programs, services, and operation of the camp and communicates the findings to the camp board, committees, staff and President/CEO.
- The Camp Director is required to live on-site because of the round-the-clock nature of the facility.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads subordinate supervisors in the camp who supervise all other team members in the specific camp assigned. May also directly supervise non-supervisory administrative employees. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university and a minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong camp business operations background with a proven track record for producing growth, annual giving and strong financial management.
- Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately to all socio-economic levels in the community and staff using written, verbal and non-verbal methods. Ability to work as part of a team regardless of the expressed role within the team, and ability to change roles as needed. Ability to proactively identify problems, plan for and execute solutions for the desired outcomes, involving others as needed to move the Y forward. Ability and willingness to actively participate in meetings, expressing informed opinions and engaging in constructive debate in order to fulfill the expectations of the leadership role.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, the Board of Directors/Board of Managers and the general public. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area and circumference. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in written, mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
- YMCA Multi-Team/Camp or Organizational Leader preferred. CPR/AED, First Aid and Blood Borne Pathogen training required upon hire and must remain current throughout employment.
