NV5 provides end-to-end services to fleet and property owners with their clean transportation transition. We plan, design, and commission zero-emission infrastructure and vehicle projects for commercial public and fleet charging applications.
Our unique expertise includes technical knowledge, utility coordination and full infrastructure engineering and design. This understanding of Electric Vehicles (EVs), Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE), and Utility coordination results in informed engineering and design considering ADA requirements, user ergonomics and construction which considers cost effective design.
With hundreds of EVSE design projects completed, NV5 provides full EVSE design services and ongoing owner's representative support for construction quality assurance and commissioning (Cx).
If you are aiming to grow your engineering design career, then our CAD Drafter opportunity will provide you with a fulfilling position having you utilize your strong design skills to support NV5's Clean Mobility Infrastructure.
This position can be remote or hybrid.
As our Designer/Drafter, you will prepare civil and electrical sketches, exhibits, permit designs, construction drawings, and related documents for Electric Vehicle Infrastructure clients.
Other Responsibilities include:
- Develop, modify, and review drawings according to client and/or company drafting standards.
- Review all work for completeness and accuracy prior to submitting for engineering review.
- Participate in design review meetings and meet client driven deadlines.

- The minimum educational qualifications are 2 years of technical school education with CAD and electrical/civil drafting/design or equivalent or Associate's Degree in Architectural or Engineering Design Technologies.
- Demonstrated proficiency and working knowledge of the latest versions of AutoCAD is required.
- Demonstrated proficiency with scaling, CAD survey experience, BlueBeam Studio experience including creating new sessions and modifying sessions, and the ability to match existing CAD design layers and plotting settings.
- Two (2) or more years of experience, including direct design and drafting work in the electric vehicle infrastructure field involving customer side of the meter design is strongly preferred.
- The successful candidate will be comfortable drafting both civil and electrical designs with guidance from a designer or engineer.
The pay range for this position in California is $50,000 to $65,000 per year. Base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
