Essential Job Duties
The admissions communications specialist will also update and maintain recruitment resources, such as admissions presentations and internal training documentation. They will travel to represent the office at local recruitment events. They will also review applications, assessing applicants’ academic credentials for admissibility to the university. They will collaborate with both the recruitment and communications teams to ensure cohesion of efforts and support larger enrollment goals.
Other Responsibilities
- Travel to represent NC State to prospective students, families and stakeholders.
- Review academic credentials of applicants to make appropriate admissions decisions.
- Present information sessions on campus for prospective students and their families.
Minimum Experience/Education
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Other Required Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with knowledge of appropriate communication best practices and standards.
- Ability to communicate to a variety of audiences at various stages in the recruitment, admission and enrollment cycle.
- Ability to create, edit and maintain content in a variety of formats.
- Strong organization and time management skills to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Must demonstrate a willingness to understand and follow trends as it relates to our target audience (prospective and admitted first year and transfer students and their families).
- Must demonstrate a desire to enhance the communication efforts to meet recruitment and enrollment outcomes.
- Must be reliable, flexible, self-motivated and demonstrate strong professionalism.
- Collaborative approach to work; this person will work on multiple projects with staff across the office to maintain and enhance recruitment and communication efforts.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively as a team member.
- Work requires in-depth analysis and counseling skills along with independent judgment and discretion to render appropriate admissions decisions.
- Flexibility to travel.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with content management systems.
- Experience in a University work setting.
Required License or Certification
- NC Driver’s License or ability to obtain one within 60 days of start date.
