Wireless technologies have become a crucial part of all Apple devices that delight our customers. In our unit, we have the mission to research and develop wireless technology for next generation radio access networks across different layers (PHY, MAC, CP, DP). We are looking for expert and self-motivated communication systems engineers who are highly qualified in cellular modem systems engineering and have a deep understanding of wireless technology. In this role you will be working on both powerful cellular modems and be at the center of an innovative research group responsible for crafting next generation innovative radio access technologies over the next decade. You will work on the design and bring up of pioneering 4G/5G modems and transition to a Wireless R&D role with responsibilities such as defining system level concepts, proposing and researching innovative ideas & algorithms, performing sophisticated system simulations, defining rapid prototyping platforms to help prove your ideas and specifying RAN protocols and for next generation (6G) cellular systems.
Description
In this role, you will first work on cellular modem development and bring up activities. Subsequently, you will transition to research and design of next generation (6G) wireless communication systems for radio access networks with emphasis on the PHY/MAC/L2/L3 layers.
- BS and 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Contribute to link-level and system simulator modelling and framework design.
- Take a top-down approach towards system design starting from a use case of relevance to Apple products, defining a problem statement and arriving at groundbreaking innovative solutions.
- Participate in industry/academic forums focused on 6G technology.
- Assess the benefit of different proposals to solving a problem.
- Contribute to future 3GPP RAN work items on 6G technology.
Preferred Qualifications
- Define and provide vital systems engineering support towards rapid prototyping platform development in the form of system requirements and system design documents.
Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $166,600 and $296,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
