ADJUNCT FACULTY: Accounting
Job Description
Summary: The McColl School of Business at Queens University of Charlotte seeks candidates for a part-time Adjunct Faculty of Accounting for the Fall 2024 semester. Primary teaching responsibilities include introductory financial and managerial accounting courses (offered in person, during the day). The ability to create an environment of learning that is student-centered through effective pedagogy, active and experiential learning is desirable. This part-time Adjunct Faculty position begins in August 2024 and is expected to continue into Spring 2025. The position reports to the Dean of the McColl School of Business.
This position is exempt from provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is not eligible to earn overtime pay or compensatory time off for additional hours worked. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Experience, Knowledge and Skills Required:
- An earned master’s or doctorate degree in accounting or a related discipline
Qualifications
The successful candidate will be an innovative individual with
- An active CPA license (preferred)
- Current or recent professional experience in accounting
- Experience with learning management systems (e.g. Canvas)
- Prior undergraduate teaching experience in accounting and a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence (desirable)
- The ability to effectively engage and communicate with a diverse student population
- Commitment to building an equitable and inclusive environment in the classroom and on campus.

Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation) require ability to

Work Conditions
- Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule to meet requirements of the position, including teaching night or weekend classes.
- Must be able to work in offices, classrooms, virtually and in laboratory environments involves contact with faculty, students, staff, and parents on any given day.
- Work has deadlines, interruptions, moderate volume and can be stressful.
